After the remarkable success of season 1, Wednesday was bound to be renewed for season 2. However, the Netflix show is moving production from Romania to Ireland for the second season.

Wednesday is a supernatural coming-of-age horror/comedy series based on a comic series around a fictional family called “The Addams Family.” The confirmation for the second season was announced in January of 2023. Now, after ten months, we have gotten an update about production.

The first season of Wednesday was shot in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022. Although the show was a significant success, the location came with a few problems. Therefore, the next season will be filmed in Ireland around April 2024.

Season 1 revolved around Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) from the Addams family as she enrolled in Nevermore Academy. The eight-episode long season consisted of Wednesday trying to solve a murder mystery at her new school and ended with an enthralling last episode.

Not much about where the story will head in season 2 has been revealed. Nevertheless, Ortega, who has also become a producer for season 2, has hinted that the show will place more emphasis on horror rather than romance and is expected to incorporate more references and elements from the classic Addams Family.

Furthermore, creators AI Gough and Miles Millar have proposed that viewers might see a possible new member of the Addams Family in season 2.

Netflix has not shared information about any actors returning, but cast members Ortego, Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay) discussed various season 2 theories during Tudum: A Global Fan Event to talk Wednesday Season 2. It is also almost confident that Jenna Ortega will continue to play Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday season 1 has the record for the most popular English-language series with a whopping 252 million views, almost twice as much as its closest competitor.
