Hollow Knight is an excellent adventure game that received high ratings from players and critics after publication. Developed and published by Team Cherry in 2017, Hollow Knight quickly became a classic of the genre and inspired fans. The game has a massive, hand-drawn world, challenging enemies, secrets, and colorful characters.

After the massive success of Hollow Knight, fans were hungry for a sequel, but it has been 5 long years and there is still no definitive answer as to when it will happen. Back in February 2019 an Announcement trailer of Hollow Knight Silksong the long-awaited sequel to the original Hollow Knight was released on Youtube by Nintendo.

After the announcement of Silksong fans went wild. Before this announcement, there was no confirmation from Team Cherry that they were working to make a follow-up game. But sadly it has been 5 long years and the release date for Silksong is still yet to be determined. For fans such as myself who have been patiently waiting for such a long time, a slight seed of doubt haunts us that the game might have been canceled.

As time passes fans are growing increasingly worried about the game’s development, with little to no news from the developers. But Mathew Griffin, the head of marketing and publishing at Team Cherry has given fans some hope that Silksong is still in development. The information was shared through a comment on Reddit.

Of course, as this was only a small comment from a member of the team and not a direct announcement, some followers had strong reactions. Many people are visibly frustrated with the wait, demanding that the developers be more open about the game’s development and provide an explanation for why it has been delayed.

The worst-case scenario for fans would be for Silksong to be canceled entirely, but the amount of time and resources already invested in the game makes this outcome seem unlikely. With that said, we’re getting closer to summer, when more gaming events are expected. Silksong has plenty of opportunities to reveal a new trailer, whether it’s at a console-specific event like PlayStation’s State of Play or something more general like Summer Game Fest.

Alas, only time will tell when the game will release and the only thing we can do right now is wait. Hollow Knight Silksong is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
