Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has compromised on a tentative agreement that gives actors space to work, Marvel has announced the latest release dates for Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, and other new projects.
The SAG-AFTRA strike ended on Thursday, November 9, having ran since July 14, 2023, halting the production of various movies. This halt has caused Marvel’s schedule to shift in the following way.
Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds, which was set to release on May 3rd, 2024, has moved to July 26, 2024. Production of the movie will resume in London, according to The Hollywod Reporter.
Therefore, Captain America: Brave New World, previously to be aired on that July date, has delayed nine months to the new date of 14th February 2025. This will be the thirty third film in the Marvel universe.
Thunderbolts has been passed to 25th July 2025 from 20th December 2024. The horror/action movie “Blade” is also facing a push back of nine months and is scheduled for 7th November 2025.
According to IGN, Marvel studios has removed two untitled movies from its schedule. These projects were supposed to be released on the dates now occupied by Thunderbolts and Blade.
Consequently, after years of three or more films being released, the only MCU release in 2024 is supposed to be Deadpool 3, owing to the SAG strike. Thunderbolts (starring Florence Pugh) and Blade (starring Mahershala Ali) were expected to start production this year. However, due to the writer’s strike, both the movies lacked a script.
In addition, director Shawn Levy shared that the release date in May for Deadpool 3 was at risk due to the actor strike. However, with the strike over, Ryan Reynolds has even posted to social media about the movie. Hinting to its release in summer of 2024.
