This includes quickly answering any question it is asked, in which the answer depends on the information on the internet.
It has been developed to produce its sounds, images, and ideas for human use. It is also currently being used for small day-to-day tasks. Examples of this are setting reminders, controlling smart home devices, and being able to interact with humans as well. Examples are Siri, Google Assistant, Chat GPT, Bard AI, Alexa, etc. All this had been initially created to bring ease to everyone.
Benefits of AI
The invention of AI has made many processes much quicker to perform. To be informed of certain things, an AI like Siri or Chat GPT can provide quick and detailed answers, along with the sources of information it used to generate its response. All that is needed is to ask them a question, and a response will be developed quickly. This can provide many answers within a short time frame, leading to much quicker work.
Certain AIs, like Prodia, can generate custom images that may be used in presentations and articles. All that is needed is to describe the desired image briefly. AI can efficiently translate texts into different languages and generate sounds or music.
There are many more applications of AI. The best part is that it can operate 24/7 since it does not have the same weaknesses as humans, such as hunger, fatigue, etc. Such a powerful tool is necessary to aid our rapidly growing societies. It should be developed to bring more benefits in other fields of work.
Disadvantages of AI
Though AI has many advantages, it also has some downsides to it. To start with, the most common issue is unemployment. It is replacing many jobs that were initially for humans.
The development of technology has constantly been replacing jobs, like the invention of automatic factory machines replacing some factory workers, the invention of the alarm clock replacing knocker-uppers, and even the use of AI replacing voice actors, as people have found a way to make it study different voices, copy them and talk like them. All this results in significant unemployment. This worsens the economic crisis since hyperinflation, decreasing wages, and demanding jobs are already hard enough for people to deal with.
Other drawbacks are that people can claim to work hard on any project and seem talented, as if they made it with strenuous effort. The reality, however, is that they use AI to make such things as songs, pictures, or even essays and articles.
This can undermine those who genuinely work hard and may interfere with progress in education, as students can claim to work hard on their assignments when they ask AI questions and copy whatever AI tells them. AI also lacks human emotions, empathy, and creativity. It is expensive to run and does not improve with experience; instead, it needs to be updated by engineers manually.
Conclusion
The many flaws of AI make it questionable whether it is worth developing. However, giving the proper amount of time and effort to improve can make up for all the flaws it causes. Such a powerful, revolutionary device can bring much good if used correctly. At some point, human life can be made easy if AI is used to make every process automatic. Thus, developing AI is a good strategy for modernization.
