U2 Set To Make History By Performing At The Sphere
Experience music history in the making as U2 ignites the Sphere in Las Vegas with their cutting-edge performance, blending art, technology, and awe-inspiring visuals for a one-of-a-kind concert.
The band U2 is set to make history by becoming the first band to perform at the state-of-the-art spherical venue in Las Vegas.
The Sphere
The Sphere is located at The Venetian Resort and has a programmable LED exterior for trippy- almost unreal motion graphics. With an impressive setup of 160,000 speakers and over 260 million video pixels, the venue promises breathtaking visuals. Clearer than your eyesight.
Sphere is a $2.3 billion venue developed by the Madison Square Garden Sports Corp and capable of hosting 18,600 people. After searching for a long time for creators that could showcase the capabilities of the Sphere, the task was taken by a band called U2. Willie Williams, a veteran collaborator of U2, was entrusted with crafting the performance titled “U2: UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere”
The Band
U2 is an Irish rock band from Dublin, mainly known for their groundbreaking live shows. They have collaborated with many talented visual artists to create an immersive experience for their residency series at Sphere.
In U2’s extensive performance history, screens have served as both a backdrop and a structural element, providing a three-dimensional canvas through which the audience immerses themselves in the music and visuals, hence they were the perfect fit to perform at Sphere.
U2’s connection to Las Vegas dates back to 1987, a year after the band’s formation. They have also recently filmed a video for their new single, “Atomic City,” hinting at an upcoming rock and roll album in Las Vegas alongside that they announced this on Wednesday via X on their account, the single is already ready to pre-save.
Details
The band will start their performances on 29th September 2023 and their last performance will reportedly be on 9th December 2023. All their concerts will happen at 8 pm as well!
