Squid Game, the hit Netflix original series that broke various records for the streaming service during its 1st season, is set to return sometime this year.

While we have known that the 2nd season has been in production for quite a while now, and 2024 is not exactly a narrow window, it is some sort of development and addition to what we knew before. Netflix recently revealed its huge slate for this year, which included Bridgerton season 3, Empress season 2 and Squid Game season 2. Recently, Netflix even released an unseen clip of the show that can be seen below.

Unseen Clip from Season 1 of Squid Game

Lee Jung-Jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo are all returning from the first season, and we’ll see new characters played by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun alongside them in the upcoming season.

Netflix has been really keen on capitalizing on the huge popularity of the show, even beginning a reality show of the same name, based on the game in the series. The reality show, however, did not do as well as the original series, which was loved by audiences and critics alike.

Apart from sneaking in a release window for Squid Game season 2, Netflix’s earnings announcement reported 13 million new subscribers despite their intense crackdown on password sharing and possible introduction to ads and commercials.
