Indiana Jones, everyone’s favourite architect, is back with a loud bang!

Tonight’s Xbox Developer Direct is officially underway, and it’s the first industry showcase of the year. Numerous games are hoped to be announced at the event, which is now home to all Xbox game announcements after the collapse of E3 in 2023.

Xbox had previously announced that they would release the first look of various games, including a new Indiana Jones game titled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Another reason for gaming fans to cheer about is the inclusion of the popular Troy Baker in the game, who is known to have voiced numerous video game characters like Joel in The Last of Us, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and many more. A tweet reaffirming the announcement is shown below.

Not only was this news confirmed, but Xbox has also released a Gameplay reveal trailer for the upcoming video game. Years after it was first announced, the wait is slowly paying off.

Gameplay Trailer for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

As far as what platforms the game will be released on following the Xbox acquisition of ZeniMax, Bethesda’s parent company in 2021, it will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PC and be made available on Xbox Game Pass. The video game will not be playable on the PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch, or any other gaming console.

While it doesn’t have a confirmed release date, Microsoft says it’s coming later in 2024. After the much-hyped yet deeply disappointing addition to the Indiana Jones movie series last year, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fans of the franchise will finally have something to rejoice about.

While the game is played from a first-person perspective, it will switch to third-person during cutscenes and certain traversal segments. Devs have promised a ‘cinematic experience’ that’ll take us to the pyramids of Egypt and the Himalayas, all while parkouring as the famous architect Indiana Jones. It is also confirmed to take place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade and is canon to the movie franchise. While we only have a small window of a ‘later in 2024’ release date, we’ll be happy to take it for now.
