Selena Gomez and David Henrie Reunited in Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series
Selena Gomez and David Henrie, both well known celebrities are finally returning back to their childhood Disney roots as they are set to reunite in a sequel series to the original Wizards of Waverly Place show.
Selena Gomez and David Henrie, both well known celebrities are finally returning back to their childhood Disney roots as they are set to reunite in a sequel series to the original Wizards of Waverly Place show.
12 years after the original show was cancelled, Disney channel is looking to revive the fan favourite series that was a big part of the childhood of a generation of children. A pilot is currently in the works with David Henrie returning as a main character and Gomez, not only returning for a cameo as Alex Russo, his annoying sister, but also as an executive producer on the series.
The show is set to revolve around David Henrie as Joe Russo while the series itself comes from the writers and executive producers responsible for Raven’s Home. A tweet confirming the news can be seen below.
While no news has been shared as far as the rest of the Russo gang reprising their roles is concerned, the pilot cast stars Janice LeAnn Brown as a powerful young wizard named Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Justin’s son Roman Russo, and Rutherford Falls actress, Mimi Gianopulos, as Justin’s wife, Giada.
Selena Gomez celebrated the news through an Instagram story of her and her former cast members. David Henrie posted a picture of the pilot script on Instagram with caption, “The Russo’s are excited to become a part of your family, once again, but we’ve grown 😊 2024, the year magic comes back!” The post can be seen below.
Wizards of Waverly Place is the latest early aughts Disney series to get the sequel treatment. It’s safe to say that fans will be really looking forward to it and may have big expectations.
